Matt brings his experiences working in the industry as a post-production supervisor and as an aspiring writer to the conversation, while Jim brings his experience teaching about mass media industries.  Together, they discuss the role of the Writers Guild, the reasons for their current dispute with the motion picture and television industry, and how the continuance of a strike may impact content creation, storytelling, and the economic bottom line for studios and content creators.

Episode 30: Bathtub Slime Machine with Tony Taylor of Fantazm Toys

Tony Taylor of Fantazm Toys joins Jim in the virtual studio as guest co-host! We discuss a few news items from a holiday week that was light on headlines. First we chat about a fun photo of Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan in the window of the Ghostbusters Firehouse set, a bootleg toy release, and changes to the 6 inch action figure lines at Hasbro (who still holds the Ghostbusters toy license). Episode 28: The Devil’s Not Down In Georgia Cuz He Was Busted In the Carolinas with Jon Roop & Rob Sosebee of South Carolina Ghostbusters

This week the big exciting new to discuss is the first Ghostbusters: Firehouse casting announcement! Join Jim for a discussion of casting news and speculation, along with headlines about Logan Kim and the Walking Dead, new autograph signings with the GB Containment Unit, and some collectibles news about Funko, as well as friends of the podcast, Fantazm Toys.  Then, tune in for a chat with with Jon Roop and Rob Sosebee of the South Carolina Ghostbusters, who have worked to celebrate Ghostbusters while contributing to their community though charitable work since 2011. Jon is also the Champion of the recurring Windy City Ghostbusters charity trivia competition that happens nationwide online, and you may have seen some viral photos of Rob as a certain "Ecto Glow" Ghostbuster at last year's DragonCon. They're both fun people who do good charity work and who represent Ghostbusters well, and we have a fun chat about their organization, Dragoncon, Ghostbusters toy and sneaker collecting, and our hopes for "Ghostbusters Wish Fulfillment" in 2023!
